The Guidance Center has been the primary institutional behavioral health provider in Flagstaff for decades—and they have utterly failed their community. From top-heavy, hierarchical structures that are proven to frequently retraumatize clients, to a complete abdication of their mandate to provide vital wrap-around services, individuals navigating extreme systemic vulnerability or living with SMI designations in Flagstaff have never had access to reliable, authentic trauma informed care.
Between Trust and Trauma looks to bring reliable Trauma Informed Care for the most marginalized among us to Flagstaff over the next couple of months. We will achieve this by utilizing a multi-tiered framework of peer-led initiatives, decentralized clinical networks, and independent data-gathering.
If you are a peer who wants to be part of this push—please reach out to Malene.
Step one of this push is a series of focus group discussions among peers and survivors about what Trauma Informed Care looks like for us: what works, what doesn’t, and our explicit expectations and needs from our providers. Go Here to Sign Up.
